Medical Imaging

​Doctors use ultrasound imaging to guide them (and a needle) to a nerve (brachial plexus block) to apply anesthesia.  There is a lot of human error in this coordination that results in a lot of unnecessary pain for the patients.  Our goal was to have the computer create a region of interest to aid in the detection of this nerve and possibly create a computer guided needle to minimize the pain endured whilst this procedure is performed.  The video above is the results of our deep net's performance on images it did not train on.
